Somalis are generally considered to be Black Africans, with a majority of Somalis having dark skin, curly hair, and facial features typical of other Black populations in the region. The country of Somalia is located in the Horn of Africa, and the Somali people have lived in this area for thousands of years. There is a great deal of diversity within the Somali population, with a variety of ethnic groups and linguistic dialects represented. Despite the diversity, however, Somalis share a strong cultural identity and sense of national pride.
